Violet Box Unboxing July 2014 ♡

Here is my first Violet Box unboxing

Violet Box $22.95 monthly

KMS California Hair Play Molding Paste
This paste is to hold, define and shape hair.
I have long thick hair so I don't see myself using this product.
I might have to research the product more to see how to use it.
Otherwise, I think I might have to hand it over to the boyfriend!
RRP $40.00 (for the full size)

So Susan Flutter Mascara
Really happy to see a full size mascara in the box.
I've never heard of the brand before.
The wand is very small so I think it will be good to use it for my lower lashes.
RRP $32.00

Nuxe Creme Nirvanesque
I received a little sachet sample in my Lust Have It box this month.
So, I like that we get a bigger sample in Violet Box.
Yet, I do find it odd that they are the same products used in two boxes.
RRP $49.95 (for the full size)

Dr. Hauschka Lavander Sandalwood Calming Body Wash
Again, I received a bath essence from this brand in my Lust Have It box.
I have a feeling that I'll be getting fairly similar products each month from the same brands. I do like that this is a body wash instead of bath essence though.
RRP $6.00 & $26.00 for the full size

LAQA & Co Sheer Lip Lube Pencil
Really disappointed with this lip pencil.
It claims to be high quality. Yet, the colour just sets in patches on my lips.
It's very odd for a $20 lip pencil.
The colour is a very pretty coral colour so it's a shame it doesn't go well when applying it. I think I'll stick to my Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stains.
RRP $20.00

Swatch of the LAQA & Co Sheer Lip Lube Pencil

Sukin Protien Hair Treatment
Violet Box sent me an email the other day apologising because they were out of stock of a product.
I was meant to receive a Sukin Skin Purifying Facial Mask.
Instead they sent me a hair treatment.
I much prefer this hair treatment though because I've been on a hunt for hair treatments.
Excited to try this out.
RRP $2.95

Katy Perry Killer Queen Perfume
This was just a little extra sample.
I always like perfume samples to see what perfumes are out there.
RRP $39.99 (for the full size)

Overall, I wasn't very impressed with Violet Box. I had high expectations after seeing the really great products in previous Violet boxes. As well, as the box being $22.95!
Hopefully I'll be more impressed with the box next month.

Lust Have It Unboxing July 2014 ♡

My first Lust Have it box!

Lust Have It $19.95 monthly

Ardell Self-Adhesive eyelashes
Lashes are quite expensive.
This is half the price of what you paid for the beauty box.
So I was pretty happy with this.
I've never tried self-adhesive lashes before. So I'm not sure about the staying power.
Might have to get my lash glue out just in case!
RRP $9.99

Designer Brands Nail Polish in Glitterama
I was hoping one of the beauty boxes would send out a nail polish.
I'm glad I got one in Lust Have It.
But! I'm not a fan of the colour. I also don't like the glitter in it.
I prefer my nail polish to be either matte or shiny.
Might have to give this nail polish away.
RRP $6.99

Dr. Hauschka Lemon Lemongrass Vitalising Bath Essence
I didn't expect a bath product.
I like how Lust Have It don't just stick to makeup and skincare.
I'm excited to try this bath essence.
RRP $6.00

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo
I've seen this brand a few times in Priceline and I've always wondered if it was any good.
It always seemed too expensive to test it out so looking forward to trying this out.
I had to do some research about this particular product because I wasn't sure what it was used for! It reduces severe imperfections and unclogs pores. It has salicylic acid so this will be good for my acne-prone skin.
RRP $27.95 (for the full size)

Aveda Tourmaline Charged Moisturizing Creme
This little sample moisturiser claims to have 11 powerful anti-oxidants. Sounding pretty good so far. The full size for this product is very expensive so I'm intrigued to see how moisturising it really is.
RRP $89.95 (for the full size)

Nuxe Creme Nirvanesque & Creme Nirvanesque Eye Contour
Another brand I've been curious about and seen in Priceline is Nuxe.
A nice sample cream to relax the skin and an eye cream sample.
Creme $49.99 (for the full size)
Eye Contour $44.99 (for the full size)

Coral Colours eyeshadow
I was impressed to see that this brand is an Australian company in Brunswick, Victoria.
The colours already have won me over. The blue and pink are very shimmery coral colours.
I think the white will make a nice highlighter.
They will make a great combination for the summer time.
RRP $9.95

Coral Colours eyeshadow Swatch

Marsk Mineral eyeshadow in Rich List
I'm quite surprised with this colour. I thought the colour would be more yellow when Lust Have It sent me an email asking me which colour I would prefer. It was between this colour or a black eyeshadow in Comic if I can remember correctly. As you can see in my swatch below, that it's a nice yellow, gold colour. I absolutely love gold eyeshadows so I like that it is a mixture between the two. Also love the fact that it is a full size eyeshadow product. The only downside is that I don't like loose eyeshadows. It's just too messy. I prefer pressed powder. Other than that I give it an A+.
RRP $24.95

Marsk Mineral eyeshadow swatch in Rich List

Overall, I wasn't as impressed with my first Lust Have it beauty box as I was with my first Bellabox. However, I'm still excited to see what they send out next month!

Bellabox Unboxing July 2014 ♡

So I'm pretty excited about this post.
My first beauty subscription box.

Let's start the unboxing!

Bellabox $15 monthly

Can we please talk about how cute the turquoise box is. I am in love with it.

The theme for this month is American Beauty

Chap stick Ultimate Lip kits
Okay, so the first thing I see is this cute little Chap Stick box. I love the apple scented Chap Stick and how there is also SPF 15 in the black lippy. Looking good so far!
RRP $8.99

Paw Paw Plus by Designer Brands.
I have extremely dry lips and this keeps them so soft and moisturised.
 Definitely happy with this.
RRP $4.99

SHE Aromatherapy lip gloss wand.
Not overly excited about this lip gloss. But it does have a nice strawberry smell.
RRP $14.95

Anastasia Lash Genius waterproof topcoat
I was very excited to see this brand. Not a big fan of this though. I just don't think topcoats are necessary but I will give it ago.
RRP $39.00 (for the full size).

Natralus Pure Aloe Vera Gel sample
I know a lot of people aren't fans of these little samples but I like them!
Might use this in the future.
RRP $14.45 (for the full size).

Innoxa Lipstick in Sunset
This product is my least favourite.
I'm happy they chose this brand but I'm not a fan of the colour.
It's a gold glittery colour that I don't think I would wear.
RRP $14.95

 Here is a swatch

Overall, I'm pretty happy with this box.
A few things I'm not quite sure about.
But it's a random selection of products and not every product will suit everybody.
I guess thats the fun of it all.
Trying and testing out new products!

Favourite Beauty Gurus! ♡

Let me show you who inspires me!

1. essiebutton
A Canadian living in London. She is my absolute fav! Not only do I get great makeup and skincare reviews/advice but I could watch her videos for hours and hours. She has this personality where you just want to be her friend! She is super funny as well. Love her.

Check out her channel

Also, check out her vlog channel where we see more into her life

2. zoella280390
A 24 year old UK girl. She has over 5 million subscribers...yep amazing. I wouldn't say she is a beauty guru though. I feel like everyone loves her just for her. Once in awhile she will post a beauty related video, however her videos are more so about her and her life. Like essiebutton, she has this infectious personality. She belongs to the big Youtube group and it's amazing how they have formed this big community. Not gonna lie, if she does come to Australia for some sort of appearance then I will be lining up like a little fan girl!

Welcome! ♡

So I did it! I have finally made a beauty blog! So let's get started!

A little bit about me

My name is Jody.
I am 22 years old. 23 next month (eeek getting old)
Live in Melbourne, Australia.
I didn't always have a clear idea of what I was going to study right out of high school.
I always loved English and Literature in school. So I grew a passion for Journalism.
I studied Journalism for a year but deferred my course. I wasn't sure if it was for me!
I then went on to do a Bachelor of Arts degree. I thought this would give me more time to really dig deep and find my passion. I graduated from my degree this year.
I am hoping to do a Postgraduate degree in the future.

But wait!
Beauty! Make-up! Cosmetics! Skincare! All that good stuff.
I always enjoyed looking at Youtube beauty gurus, reading beauty blogs and trying out different makeup and skincare products. But I see it more than just a hobby now.
I am currently completing a makeup and skincare course to become a make-up artist.
I am enjoying this course very much. I'm hoping to start of in the industry as a beauty adviser/consultant. Also hoping that many opportunities will come along the way!

This blog will be all things beauty. Perhaps a review of a new product? Maybe my favourite makeup look? Maybe my skincare routine? Perhaps techniques I have learnt in beauty school? Or maybe my monthly favourites? Anything really! I am in no way an expert! Just sharing what I love.

Here is a picture of me so you know who is typing away on this blog.

Anyways enough about me!

Let's talk Beauty!

Watch this space..
